Safety Padlock Pro — Nylon Shackle
This is the top of our padlock range, in the all-plastic version. Same premium glass-reinforced PA66 body as the stainless Pro, but the shackle is reinforced nylon too — so there is no metal anywhere in the lock. Nothing to conduct, nothing to spark, nothing to rust. It is the padlock to reach for on switchboards, at live electrical work, and in fuel, gas and chemical areas.
What it is made of, and why that matters
- Glass-reinforced PA66 nylon body, moulded in one piece. PA66 is the engineering nylon used for under-bonnet automotive parts. It resists the oils, greases, fuels and solvents that stress-crack the ABS bodies used in cheap padlocks, and it holds its shape and strength at temperatures where ABS starts to soften. One-piece moulding means there is no seam, screw or rivet to work loose after a few hundred lockouts.
- Reinforced nylon shackle — 5.5 mm diameter, 30.5 mm clearance. Fully non-conductive, non-sparking and non-magnetic. A metal shackle in a live board is a bridge waiting to happen; this one cannot carry current, and it will not rust or seize in the shackle channel the way plated steel does.
- Anti-static, and acid and alkali resistant. Suited to flammable atmospheres and to plants where washdown chemicals eat ordinary padlocks. Unaffected by UV, so it does not go chalky and brittle on an outdoor isolator.
- Key-retaining zinc alloy cylinder, two keys supplied. The key cannot be withdrawn while the padlock is open — so the lock never gets left hanging on a hasp with the key in someone's pocket. One worker, one padlock, one key, enforced by the hardware rather than by memory.
- Over 100,000 key differs. Supplied keyed different as standard, so no two padlocks on your site open each other.
- Labels already fitted. DANGER and DO NOT REMOVE labels front and back, so the lock is legible the moment it goes on. Laser engraving of your own numbering or company name is available on request.
- 80 g. The lightest way to hold an isolation all shift on a belt clip.
Premium build, without the premium price
Padlocks specified like this — dielectric shackle, engineering-nylon body, key retaining — sell in New Zealand for $90 and up. We import direct and hold stock here, so this one is $35 including GST. Nothing has been taken out of the lock to get there.
Colours
Red is in stock now. Yellow, blue, green, black, white, orange and purple are coming soon. If you need a particular colour for a departmental or contractor keying scheme, tell us and we will let you know when it lands.
Choosing between the two Pro padlocks
This one has a non-conductive nylon shackle — choose it for anything electrical, and for flammable or corrosive atmospheres. A nylon shackle is deliberately not metal, so if what you want is maximum cut and pry resistance on a gate, valve or outdoor hasp, take the 304 Stainless Shackle Pro instead: identical body, stainless shackle.
Keying options
- Keyed different (standard) — every padlock has its own unique key. The safe default for personal lockout: your key opens only your lock. Held in stock — first dispatch Wednesday 5 August, then dispatched the day you order.
- Keyed alike — a set of padlocks that all open with the same key. Made to order and air-freighted to your key specification: allow about one week for delivery. Adding locks to an existing set? Put your key code in the order notes at checkout.
